$13.99 22 pc brush set

I Love putting on makeup and it's even more of a pleasure when I can put it on using the prettiest brushes I've ever seen. I found this set on eBay and I was amazed to find out it was only $13.99. For 22 brushes I couldn't resist. It even comes with a pouch so it would be perfect for travel. So when I started my search for new brushes I decided to try this set out and see if it was worth it.

I'll start with the first four face brushes in the pouch. The first is a really big powder brush which is so soft and fluffy. It's a dream to sweep over the face.  It doesn't feel to be any type of real hair but artificial fibre. The handle is a bit bigger than most other brush companies but it doesn't cause any discomfort when using. The foundation brush has the texture of a stiff brush but the softness as well. So you can get the product on and also buff it with the brush.

(Top to Bottom)foundation brush, big powder brush, blush brush, blush brush
I'm also partial to their blush brushes. One is the right size not to big or small. The other seems the most interesting. The squareness of it is unique. As you can see in the picture below it has a flat top perfect for stippling on your brush which gives you a natural look from your blush.

Also added in the kit is a small fan brush. I've always wanted a fan brush but have never taken the plunge and bought one. Boy do I love this one. I love having a brush designated just for highlighter. Before I would just use my blush brush for highlighter but the next time I would use blush I would always get some of the residue from the highlighter making my blush application have quite a bit more shimmer.

This kit also comes with another fan brush but this one is a ginormous brush that I'm not so sure how to use it. I like it but I don't know how practical it is to use on the face. Maybe it could be used as a body brush,to apply body shimmer.

Onto some of the gorgeous pinky eye brushes. They seem to be pretty good sizes for the eyes. Theres a good mix of variations of brushes here. Some slanted brushes and regular flat brushes for patting on shadows with. I like how their soft making putting on shadow such a delight.

There are so much other brushes that I haven't mentioned because it would be so long if I had to review and take pictures of 22 brushes. What I can say is this kit has it all. From lip brushes to a brow comb its pretty well rounded. Even a sponge tip smugger tip.

I love how much brushes this kit has because brushes get dirty so easy that its nice to have a back up blush brush while your washing the other one. Another thing that is so apparent is the beautiful white and pink brush colors.
Best thing like I keep talking talking about is the softness of the brushes. How did the people make them so soft??
They feel as soft as my rabbit even though their artificial material.
Good thing I have my bunny because if not I would be temped to always feel the softness of the brushes.

This set was so worth it for me. If you appriate pink as much as me this might be something for you. I mean can you imagine how pretty this would look on your vanity.

Sephora's Glitter liners

So I recently went to Sephora to see that they had a set of five mini liners for only $10. Orginally for the holiday they were $16 so it was a good sale.
Even though these are mini sizes I think they'll last quite awhile since I don't always wear glitter liners.
The first liner is called Glittering Emerald. It's such a beautiful bright teal color. Out of all I would say this one has the most glitter payoff. A lot of the glitter comes off in one swipe. The uniqueness of this color is so intriguing,I don't see a lot of duo chrome glitter liners. The glitters reflect blue and green. Perfect liner to add a pop of color to a natural eyeshadow look.

Next is the tinted black liner in Bewitched Black. It's this lightly colored black liner with silver glitter in it. When swatched it look like a very light application of black liner and silver reflects in it. I wouldn't say the black is pigmented enough to wear alone but maybe over a deeper colored black I could see it looking better.

Then we have Midnight Navy that I really wanted to have it workout for me. It is this mix of purple and navy glitters. It looks so amazing in the tube but when I applied it I didn't get really any pigmentation. Just a watered down navy color. This is definitely the sheerest of them all.

On to VIP Gold. Its exactly what u would expect a gold liner to be. This one has a clear base and just the gold glitter in it. It you want an intense line with this you have to repeatably apply and reapply but it is build able.

Like the gold one Sassy Silver has a sheer base and just silver glitter in it. I wore it yesterday with a smoky silver eye and it just made the look ten times better. It held up all day with no fall out what so ever. Held exactly where I had placed it in the morning.

From playing around with these realized these are not dupes for Urban decays intensely pigmented liner but instead I see these as accent liners meaning just to place on top of another or to put in the inner corner of the eyes.

Maybelline Color Tattoos

Tough as Taupe is the first color tattoo I purchased. Its this matte dark gray color. When I used this as a base I noticed that it immediately darkened any colors I put on top of it. Making my eyeshadow colors look very dark almost muddy like. So now when I wear it I only used it as a cream eyeshadow. The lasting power is very good and with its tacky consistency it stays on all day. It is also on the dry side so when you blend it you have to be quick before it stains.

Next is the beloved bad to the bronze that everybody seems to love. The color is a burnished bronze iridescent color. It has a metallic finish that is almost blinding. Now this one is better used as a base. It lets the others colors shine through and helps to keep the fall out of other shadows to a minimal. Bad to the bronze is really something everybody could use because of its versatility. Even alone as a eyeshadow it looks two dimensional because of its gorgeous sheen. I like to use it on my bottom lash line and it really makes my eyes pop and wont smear down my face.

I've been on the hunt for a bold gold color that was also shimmery and that's exactly what Gold rush is. This one has the glitter out of the three. Unlike bad to the bronze this one has chunkier glitter to it.
I love it under bronze shadows because it just adds more hints of shimmer that I adore. I'm really into the most shimmer I can get from a shadow. This shadow really deliveries in every aspect I wanted. I had almost given up on finding the perfect bold gold shadow. Its going to be a great addition for pairing of my spring and summer shadows.

These retail for around $7 depending on where you go and so worth the money!

Highlighters Of Three

Let's go through these three highlighters and see how well they perform.

The benefit girl meets pearl is a cream base highlighter of a light pinky shade. It is the sheerest color out of the three because when you blend it out you just get a nice sheen. I was so impressed that it dried pretty fast because some cream products stay goopy.
It also lasted the whole day on my face without fading over messing up my makeup underneath it. It is also not an over the top highlighter so I can apply all over my face and not look like a disco ball. I just get the nicest glowy skin with this product and highly recommend it if you want a suble glowy highlighter. It retails for $30 but it comes with so much product I know I'll get great use out of it becausue I use it everyday.

Girl Meets Pearl,Watts up,Mary Lou

I received the benefit watts up from Sephora as the birthday gift and even though its a travel size it still has a lot of product to it. Unlike the girl meets pearl you don't want to apply this over your entire face. It is a extremely pigmented gold champagne color that comes off so noticeable on the face. With saying that I only put it on the top of my cheek bones and make sure to blend it out. Make sure to sure rub and warm it up with you fingers first because its a drier cream product. The full size retails for $30

Now onto the The Balm Mary manizer highlighter. I've hit pan already which is very rare for me on a highlighter. It is literally such a pigmented champagne color that goes so well with my skin tone. Just like with the watts up highlighter its best to be light handed with this.
I apply this one under my brow bone, down my nose and cheek bones. It is an instant perk me up for the face. It livens it up and really accentuation my cheekbones. Mary lou is really a fool proof highlighter. It blends so effortlessly that I know this highlighter will be a staple in my makeup collection. I don't only use this product on my face it also looks so good on legs and neck area!
It retails for $24

Stila Sweet Treats Bronzing Powder

This bronzer was such a perfect Valentines day gift for me. I mean common it looks like chocolate and its makeup!

It was released around the time for Valentines day exciting my heart so. Stila always releases some sort of affordable blush or bronzer around Valentines day with just the cutest packaging.

The bronzer comes with three distinct colors a brightening peach color, light gold, and a matte deep brown.
Swirled all together it creates a brightened matte medium brown color. I like the fact that it is not a one dimensional color. If you want to use it as a all over bronzing powder than just lightly swirl the colors together. If you want to contour with it I would recommend just using the deep brown color.

On answering which skin tones it would best match I would say a broad range because of the color versatility. I'm mid toned and I would say this works great as my contour color.

I've fallen in love with this product so much. Not only is the packaging cute but the powder is a complete winner. At only $14 dollars for a high end bronzer it's still. I would say to still see if Ulta still has this available for sale.

My first experience with makeup started Way before I could even wear it

google image
I remember when I was really little I had this barbie that came with some makeup I could apply to the doll and it would easily wipe off. Well it just so happened that day I was getting babysat by my grandma who in my mind seemed like a good person to try my makeup skills on. She gave the okay for me to apply some of the barbie makeup on her. I reassured her her once again that it always wipes right off my doll so of course it would come off her. So as she settled into a nap I began on her make over. I took the blue cream and began to layer it on her eyelids and proceeded  till I thought it was bright enough. Once I had covered all my grandmas eyelids even way up to her brow bones I had an idea to also do her cheeks. I grabbed some more and slathered it onto her cheeks not really worrying about making both sides symmetrical. Just to top it all off my eyes knew that no look would be complete without doing the lips. So I gave her lips just the same blue color as her whole entire look.
When done I stood back to see my work which I thought was a good job. A complete masterpiece in my book.
Although when my grama woke up she asked for a mirror and her eyes were so shocked. Apparently she wasn't impressed as I was so I ran to the bathroom and grabbed a wet washcloth. I tried to rub it off her face but it seemed like it turned into a stain. I was floored why would it come off my barbie but not my grandmother?
Even when she tried scrubbing her face it was to no avail. The blue makeup had stained her skin and that night she called up my dad embarrassed. Embarrassed that she had to go grocery shopping with completely stained blue makeup. While there she saw her Ex and was horrified as he kept looking at her face and asking if she was okay. He probably thought she was going crazy because of her clown like makeup.
Even days after my failed makeover on my grandmother she had to go to work and face people who kept giving her weird looks the whole week the blue makeup lasted on her.

I've always wondered what was that barbie makeup made of? I know now it was just meant to be used on a plastic doll and I'm very thankful that my makeup knowledge have progressed past that.

At one point I was even into putting on so much mascara I achieved the dreaded spider lashes but now I know that was horrible. Thats the good thing about makeup even when you do a makeup mistake you can wash it off and start again.

Baby Skin Primer

A little story on getting this primer......

I was on a mission to find this one night. So all of my dinner at Arby's was clouded with thoughts on this baby. As I ate my basic Arby's sandwich my mind drifted into the ideals of how this would work. Would it really be as good people said? Would I finally find the affordable primer I've been searching for?
My mind twirled around such notions that I barely ate any of my beloved curly fries. While curly fries are good makeup is better.
As I finally finished up my meal I grew more excited about the baby skin. I hoped in the car and anticipated every minute to the Walgreens. The glow of the Walgreen's sign had never been so beautiful to me. Saying I was excited about the product was a understatement.

I stepped into the makeup section and my eyes searched so adoringly at all the Maybelline products but I couldn't find it. I checked again as if my eyes were simply playing a trick on me. Disappointment began to overtake me. Not wanting to give up I walked up the makeup aisle and searched the other makeup company's products. I was beginning to think that maybe the employers could have gotten mixed up and could have placed it in the wrong spot.
Walking back down the aile I decided to look one more time and there it was in the bottom of the Maybelline product display. If only I had bent down lower to the bottom section. I didn't think about it and graped it right off and wanted to do the Smeagol dance from the Lord Of The Rings when he finally got the Ring from Frodo.
But I did not do the dance on account my husband who accompanied on the mission would have gotten a little weirded out and especially the workers as well.
So after sparing myself embarrassment I just took it up to the cashier but don't be dismayed because I did do the dance in my mind.

So when I got home I immediately tried it on my hand and it has the silkiest texture I've ever felt from a primer. It comes out clear as a gel formula and when I put it on it does really blur my pores. My foundation goes on extremely well. This is exactly what I've been searching for in a primer. Affordable and helps to give me a smooth canvas for the whole day. I feel like this makeup mission I was on was completed. Does it ever feel like a mission to you to go on the hunt for some anticipated products?

As Smeagol would say this is "My Precious" makeup primer

The Drugstore Nude Lipstick FACE OFF

Left to right: power couple,nude from f21,Kate 113,nude delight,nourishing nude,beige for good, peach kiss,Carmel apple,in the nude,Terra crave

Here we are again.I've done a mascara face off counting down and reviewing all the mascaras I have and now I'll review all the nude drugstore lipsticks I have.

I'll start with the ones I'm not so fond of

1)First one is from Victoria secret in Power couple and
it's on the mauve side of nude. It comes with a matching lip gloss on the bottom. Color is not very opaque but it is very moisturizing.
I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not?

2)Rimmel Kate moss 113 super pale lipstick. Could quite possibly be the lightest  nude lipstick I have. Like the color of a very light concealer. Not very pigmented, very sheer. I have to wear to wear a gloss over this just so I wont look scary >.<    Retail $5

         3) Baby lips in peach kiss is just an okay lip balm. When I wear a nude I want a nude that is so pigmented that I don't have to put a gloss on the top if I don't want. This balm wasn't that just a sheer non moisturizing product.  retails for $3.99

4)NYC glossy lip balm in candy apple has a funky fake smell to it so every time I applied it I would just wipe it back off. It is a weird color as well. retail $3.51

5)Elf gloss(in the nude) is also just another sheer balm that is blotchy and way to light. retail $2

6)Jordana terra crave is a brown spice color. Its has a decent color staying power but I just don't the brownness of the color. retail $2.99

Power couple,F21 nude,rimmel 113,nude delight

Loreal nourishing nude,maybelline beige for good,peach kiss,Carmel apple,elf in the nude,terra crave

Now onto the four best nudes I have

Fourth place is Maybellines 14 hour lipstick in beige for good. Its a cool toned matte finish lipstick which I like because my other ones are all warm toned. I love pairing it with bold eyeshadow looks because it doesn't take any attention away from the look just enhances the overall look. As for the 14 hour wear I don't know but I can say it does stay for a very long time even while I have my multiple morning cups of coffee. retail $6

Third place is the loreal color riche balm in nourishing nude.
I wear this on day where I don't want to hassle with having to put on a lipstick and lip gloss. It gives such a beautiful glossy sheen to the lips and ever so moisturizing. The balm is my most used nude lipstick so I will most defiantly be picking up another one. retail $6

Second is my beloved nude opaque peach color from          Forever 21.It is their matte finish nude color for $3.80.It's the most beautifulest peach lipstick ever. Its a warm toned matte lipstick and one swipe is all I need. Not only is it pigmented but for less then four dollars the quality is outstanding!

First place is Rimmel's moisture renew lipstick in Nude Delight. Eversince I picked this baby up I haven't stopped using it. Talk about a color that works with every look. With the added moisture to the lipstick I usually wear it without a gloss and it looks perfect. I can't stop raving about it. I'm half way through it but I already know that it's going to be my staple nude lipstick that I'll keep coming back to.

Wet n Wild Fergie Shimmer Primer and Dessert festival

Both items come from the drugstore brand Wet n Wild and are apart of their Fergie collection. The Primer in (a little party) is a limited edition sparkly primer and the other one is a permanent Fergie 5 shadow palette. Both average around $5 dollars depending on where you go.

I've heard alot of hype around the Fergie collection and seeing I needed a new eyeshadow primer I thought I would try it out. I noticed when it came out of the tube it looked like a thick consistency. I spread it out on my hand it it spread evenly but left a tacky feeling on touching it. When it was spread out it showed up as a iridescent silver wash of color. The sheen was quite intense but when I applied shadows over it I didn't notice any of the shimmer from the primer show through. I was really hoping it would make my shadows just alittle bit shimmery but nothing. Besides the color I would say since it is a tacky finish so it clung well to my shadows and stayed on all day without creasing.

The dessert festival palette was something I always wanted to try every time I walked past it in the drugstores but was weary on the color payoff. So what better way to try it then when I picked up the primer to try out as a pair and see if it helped out the shadow any.
The palette has five colors in it which the first one doesn't even show up on my skin but the other four do. The colors consist of warm orange colors and cool browns and black.
I had high hopes on the colors especially the orange colors but with all the chalkiness the color faded throughout the day. I thought it was going to be more intense like it showed in the pan.

Shadows with the Fergie Primer

 Shadows without any primer
